The Western Federation of Watercolor Societies (WFWS) recognizes artistic excellence through competitions and encourages the visibility
of watercolor as an artistic medium through its annual exhibitions. WFWS
was founded in 1974 by the New Mexico Watercolor Society through the foresight and work of Dr. David Gale (1915-1980). Today WFWS includes over 5000 artists in eleven regional societies.
The Western Federation of Watercolor Societies (WFWS) sponsors an annual juried exhibition which is hosted each year by a different regional member society. The WFWS exhibitions have works on paper, including paper collage, created with a variety of water-based media: casein, gouache, tempera, acrylic and transparent or opaque watercolors. A diversity of artistic expression is the result.
